Hey Y'all!
Well, Jon and I are in Qatar for two weeks, sadly having to change our training style. It is EXTREMELY hot here, in the 90's, and the humidity levels are sky rocketing. It is so difficult to run outside in this kind of heat, so we are training on the treadmills in the gym. At least we have this facility available to us!! The race is in 43 days and is getting more and more real to us and we are getting excited about it.
This weekend is another long run, so I'll be back to update how it all went! We're at the stage where we really have to push ourselves, and I have to push through the shin pain. But I know we're doing this for a good cause and that cause it to help raise money for the Sumatran Orangutan Society. Jon and I absolutely LOVE animals and love to help in the donating for endangered animals.
If you'd like to donate to our fund-raising for the Sumatran Orangutans, please click on the "Sponsor Me" widget on the right hand side of our blog, or click HERE.
Thank you so much for helping us to save the Sumatran Orangutans!!

Training Update
Hey All!
Jon and I are moving along quite well with our training. We are a little behind as I had a slight injury and had to take a little time off, but we're slowly moving forward and luckily I am not in as much pain as I was a week ago! I'm hoping to keep it that way. We have been training during the week every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday running 3o minutes and on the weekends are our distance runs. Yesterday we ran a nice 4 mile run and today we plan on running the same distance, but adding some hills to our trail running. The Edinburgh Half Marathon is 7 weeks from today, and by picking up our pace and training a little harder, I know we'll be ready for the big day.
Thanks to all of those who have donated thus far! We appreciate it so very much. If you'd like to donate to our fundraising for the Sumatran Orangutans, please click on the "Sponsor Me" widget on the right hand side of our blog, or click HERE. We hope to raise $1,000 for the SOS. Thanks again! and a VERY Happy EASTER to you all!

At the Starting Line
Well guys, Jon and I have officially started training, and I have to say it's definitely tougher than we thought. But we're enjoying it and know that we are running for a great cause. We're running for the Orangutans, because let's face it, they're only the orangest primates, after Carrot Top and the Oompa Loompas, and they're just awesome! (Not Carrot Top, but Oompa Loompas and Orangutans.)
This will be our first foray ever into the competitive long distance running world, unless you count the time we ran all the way across town to the 7-11 to grab more beer before halftime was over. We have begun our strict regiment for the Scottish Half Marathon, and in the frigid German air, that's something to be said! We've been following a great training schedule and hope to stick with it, as I was told, it would get us past the finish line with no problem. Let's hope that's the case!!
We're running to raise money for the Sumatran Orangutan Society, or SOS. SOS is dedicated to the conservation of Sumatran orangutans and their forest home. They raise awareness of the threats against wild orangutans, and raise funds to support grassroots conservation projects in Sumatra. To read more about their projects, click here.
We've set up a fundraising page through First Giving. It is the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Just click on the widget to the right and click on the "Sponsor Me Now" button. Or you can click here to donate now.
Thanks you so much for stopping by and a huge thank you for your donations in supporting the SOS and our race in May!
